Coach Candice Dowdy

Candice Dowdy embraces her opportunities to help children explore the world of batons, flags, rifles and ribbons, which instills self confidence and a sense of accomplishment derived through team work and performances in an educational setting.”
Candice Dowdy, was recently appointed as the AAU Baton Twirling National Chair by President Robert Dodd. She currently lives in Orlando, Florida and has been twirling since she was four years old.
Dowdy is Owner/President of Brite Star Twirlers of Central Florida, which she founded in 1999. She uses entrepreneurial skills to preside over one of the premiere twirling program in Central Florida. Dowdy teaches over 140 girls and boys ranging in age from 4-18 with a variety of skill sets and abilities. She choreographs all routines for class, team and individual performances, as well as competitions. Under her tutelage, Brite Star’s Competitive Teams qualified to compete in the AAU Junior Olympics in 2006 through 2008 where they won several Gold Medals. Teams did participate by choice in 2009 and 2010. Dowdy has developed Local, State and National award winning teams from a broad spectrum of talent by forming a cohesive unit accentuating these differences. She promotes her classes and teams through well researched competitions, community performances, and parades. Dowdy has an annual end of the year show to showcase what her students have learned.
Coach Candy also choreographs routines for individuals who want to compete solo. Her students have competed in Local, State, and National Levels and hold multiple titles. They qualified and attended Junior Olympics in 2007-2010 and have brought home many Gold, Silver, Bronze and Copper Medals.
Dowdy formed the Timber Creek High School Majorettes, a twirling group compromised of students’ seeking extracurricular activities with a competitive edge. She also introduced a majorettes program to students at Haggerty High School, East River High School, Lawton Chiles Middle School, Corner Lakes Middle School, Discovery Middle School, and Indian Trails Middle School. Candy formed many after school programs at schools in Orange and Seminole Counties
